ENGLISH VERSION

I can't begin this blog without mentioning the terrible experience for my country during past 27th of February 2010: Earthquake grade 8.8 in the central south area and a following tsunami that ravaged coastal bays and villages. A tribute to all victims and their families and all those who lost their homes, schools, working sites and tools.

About Painting. Before my holidays I was working in two themes: of course Goddesses and Women in Color series. For the goddesses series I dedicated myself during this time to inquire about the traditions and mythologies of both Chile and the world and began to manage a booklet with graphic notes, sketches and texts.

I painted more artwork from the series Women in Color. I choose this series because in January a lovely woman I know fell in love with one of these works called Turquoiseandcopper (whose image I posted in february's post), and bought it. She made so beautiful comments that encouraged me to continue this series. The summer job was mainly ink on paper drawings with pastel as shown in the current image: Pregnants. But the most interesting and surprising result for me was to do some live pictures on wood with oil and pastel (I hoppe I tell you about his work in anoter post).

During my holidays I also did a sort of informal painting workshops for the children that were there and for some teenagers who have had an art teacher that advised them to leave the classes for having no artistic skills. How silly. Everyone can paint. Painting is an expression of the soul, senses, emotions and feelings. Painting is a skill as important as writing or speaking. Young children take their pencils and draw or squetch so naturally because they don't care about good or nice drawing. It's different if you want to be a professional because in this case I think it's necessary to go through the academy and join the spontaneity with the rigor of the study. But to simply draw and represent something or for personal expression or tension release, you don't need to have talent. You need to do it only.
